The only zoo in the continental U.S to have Hawaiian monk seals is the Minnesota zoo. The MN zoo opened on may 22 1978 from there they built up to have 2,351 animals compared from the 1,200 animals when the zoo first opened. The zoo was built on about 400 acers to walk around in.
